It’s easy to see why Chiang Mai is such a popular destination for travellers. Rolling hills, Buddhist temples and gorgeous scenery, all in a temperate climate— it’s hard to beat. However, the most popular time to visit Chiang Mai is during the cool season, from November to February. This is also the best time to hike the mountainous regions of Chiang Mai, and to enjoy its night markets, which open every night of the week. If you get tired of the noisy city and just want to chill out by the pool, you’ll be able to do that in the low season, from May to October.
